While visiting the Ferry Building last Saturday with our friend Laurie, we stopped in Recchiuti Confections to get a few pieces of amazing chocolates and candies. I ended up getting a vanilla bean marshmallow, to which Laurie asked how they were made. Anyone who knows me knows this is all the incentive I need. Yup, we came home and made marshmallows.

When tasty things take me by surprise!
At the Munich train station (hauptbahnhof) is a bakery catering to morning commuters and tourists. I didn't hold high hopes for it but at the early morning hour we were there to catch a train to Salzburg our choices were limited.
Since it was Christmas time there was a plethera of Lebkuchen (gingerbread) in many shapes and forms, as well as cakes, tarts and breads. We bought a bunch of things, even though we had no clue what they were. We also got what we thought were a couple of croissants, just in case we didn't like anything else we tried.
